Now Loading: June 2023

I still cannot believe it is already June! Half of the year is gone. Goodness, time sure does fly when you’re having fun. As far as gaming goes, I have been completely absorbed into The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Everything about that game has just been pure perfection. More on that in the future though. For today I’d just like to talk about what else has been happening in my game room.

A Rather Slow Year

With only seven games under my belt at the middle of the year, this year certainly feels the slowest in terms of games beat. However, the majority of games I have played this year have been rather hefty entries that I have wanted to devote my time to. Rather than comparing my number to previous years, I am just going to continue to be grateful for the experiences that each game provides me. I may only have completed seven titles so far but you can bet I’ve enjoyed each one thoroughly.

From Psychonauts 2 to Metroid Prime Remastered, I have already experienced so much gaming history this year. Speaking of history, I was able to play Trials of Mana as well which was, of course, an absolute treat. Since RPGs are my bread and butter Octopath Traveler II was certainly a highlight for me and I played a few more titles this year that didn’t quite make it into this blog. For whatever reason I just felt like keeping those titles to myself or at least not diving into them on here like usual.

Needless to say this year is shaping up to be a “quality over quantity” kind of year and I’m okay with that. In fact, I’ve really preferred it. Its allowed me to invest so much more time into these games and really enjoy everything they have to offer without feeling the pressure of starting something new. Of course my backlog is screaming at me, but it can wait.

Other Happenings

Other than beating games, I have been enjoying other game-related activities in my cozy game room. Still doing weekly (sometimes bi-weekly) game nights which have been such blast. It has been so nice to be able to host my own game nights and actually share this passion of mine with some of my friends. We mostly just play Trivial Pursuit or Mario Party but it is a great time nonetheless.

Beyond that I have also been enjoying a few games with my roommate. We tend to play PC games that can’t really be beaten or if they can, we take our time with them. Naturally that has pulled me away from ultimately chipping away at my backlog but I’m not worried about it. I enjoy gaming with him and we always fill our sessions with endless laughter. That’s a win in my book.

My social life is a bit fuller this year than in previous years as well which has taken some time away from gaming. Again though, I’m not complaining. I have made lifelong friendships and I certainly plan to keep them alive. I would still say I’m definitely an introvert, but the few people who can get me out definitely feel lucky.

The Rest Of The Year

The rest of 2023 is definitely still bright in terms of games go. I have my list from my backlog I’d like to tackle but I’m also looking forward to some new releases coming out. The soonest new game coming out that I will definitely be playing is Final Fantasy XVI. I will always be a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise and this will be no exception. I am also looking forward to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and many more. Plus, I still have a spooky season to plan!

I am hoping to find more time to write as well as come up with a few more series. Finding that balance has been a bit difficult for me but I do have a few ideas that I plan to get around to very soon. As always, thank you so much if you are still reading this! I enjoy sharing my passion of gaming with you guys!
