Now Loading: Mid May and A New Series

The heat is on as summer approaches. I’m glad to find the time to sit down and write for a bit. These last few weeks have been filled with summer storms and perfect video games. In my eyes, that is the best way to spend a summer. I have a lot to look forward to, but it has been important to me to also remain present in my life. On that note, let me fill you guys in on how life’s been treating me.

The Past Few Weeks

After beating Mark of the Ninja, I decided to take a break from my backlog. Often times, I find myself overwhelmed with what to play next and that feeling can take away the enjoyment of gaming for me. Instead, I decided to refresh my pallet a bit and replay some of my favorites. I replayed two titles, both of which were games I originally played during one of the toughest times in my life. Those titles were Jedi: Fallen Order and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

With that in mind, I wanted to take this opportunity to bring these wonderful games forward in time with me so that I could properly appreciate them. In honor of that, I’ll be working on a piece for Jedi: Fallen Order, as well as starting a new series for my blog dedicated to reliving favorites. Anything game that I haven’t already written about will make it into this series.

Another Series For The Game Room

This is rather exciting for me because it will allow me to write about the games that I experienced before starting this blog. Not only that, but it will be a chance to bring all of these monumental games forward and further appreciate all that they have done for me. Many moments of my life were not easy, but video games have always been there to ease the blow of real life. It is in that spirit that I want to start this series. This series will about moving forward but never forgetting how you got where you are. It will be about second chances and the beauty life has to offer. Find your bliss and never let it go.

I haven’t come up with a name for this series yet but I have a few ideas floating around. Regardless of the title though, I am excited to share this next chapter in my blogging journey. This series has been one that’s been on my mind for a while, but the pressure from my backlog has always kept me from pulling the trigger. I’ll still enjoy new games of course, but it is okay to enjoy the classics again, too.

The Current Game

Speaking of new games, after replaying both Jedi: Fallen Order and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, I found myself ready for a new experience. With almost no thinking at all, I booted up my Switch and threw in the cartridge for CrossCode. I won’t write much about it here, but it has been absolute perfection. It has every right to consume my life as it currently has been because it is just such a wholesome game.

Beyond that, I still find time to play games with both my roommate and my best friends out in Oregon. We live in a great world that allows us all to connect with video games and that’s a beautiful thing. We’ve been hitting Monster Hunter Rise a lot more in preparation for the expansion in June. My roommate and I have obviously played many, many hours of this game, but my friends in Oregon are just starting their journey in Rise. I am thankful to be a part of that journey.
