Now Loading: Welcome July!

It is already July and I can hardly believe it. 2022 is flying by, but I have had the pleasure of playing some amazing games already. As the year continues, I am eager to see where my backlog takes me next. I wanted to take a minute to write about what I have been up to since I beat CrossCode. My work schedule has recently changed to more closing shifts so my video game time has been shortened as a result. On top of that my social life has also been more time-consuming than usual, but that’s fine by me. Here’s what’s been going on in the game room this summer.

My Friend Pedro

Since CrossCode, I actually played and beat another title. That title was My Friend Pedro and it was an absolute blast. I’m not quite done with my piece on it yet, but I will have that posted soon. Needless to say though, it was a refreshing break from my RPG -heavy year. Its unique and precise gameplay made for a very interesting experience. Each level felt like a puzzle and I thoroughly enjoyed trying to decide what part of my arsenal I was going to use to clear a room. More to come on that later though.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

My biggest time sink lately has been the huge expansion to Monster Hunter Rise. My roommate and I have been hard at work fighting through the Master Rank quests that Sunbreak brings to the table. In the mix is, of course, new and returning monster alike so it has been a dream.

I have found myself mostly playing as an Insect Glaive user again and am even experimenting with a few new builds that I have rather enjoyed. My roommate and I adore this franchise and Sunbreak is a worthwhile expansion to an already fantastic game. I couldn’t pass up the collector’s edition that came with Malzeno’s amiibo. Naturally, I took it upon myself to pick up the Sunbreak Pro Controller to add to my collection, as well. It’s been a blast hunting monster parts and filling our home with laughter and good vibes.

Last Of Us Part II Platinum Trophy

In classic me fashion, I also juggled a replay of sorts throughout this summer. I say “of sorts” because I was mainly just polishing up the remaining trophies I had to snag from The Last of Us Part II. However, since some of those trophies were tied to new game plus like getting all the weapon upgrades, I did a full replay. It was actually profound to replay this game years later. It still hits close to the heart and it is supposed to.

The Last of Us Part II and the franchise as a whole has a lot to unpack. Because of that, I don’t really feel like writing a piece about it, at least not right away. Instead, it is a title that I have been sitting on since it first released in 2020 and I imagine it’ll stay that way for a while. However, I was able to snag myself that platinum trophy and add it to the collection.

Everything Else

Beyond games I have been busy with work and friends. For me, I am usually not this social but I have actually been really enjoying it so I would imagine that it will stay this way. Life is about doing what makes you happy and I certainly am happy with how things are. I’m still finding time for the things I love to do and that’s what matters.

I have some exciting new ideas for the website that I will announce at a later time when things fall more in place. Until then, I’ll try my best to keep updating you guys on what I am up to. Again, thanks as always for reading.
