It sure is nice to have the holiday chaos in my rearview mirror. A lot has changed in this game room of mine, and there is a lot more change coming in the future as well. Despite that though, I am still finding time to sit down, turn on some game soundtracks and write for this little blog of mine. I find myself in 2023 more level-headed than I have ever been, focused on my job, relationships and hobbies. Balancing everything can be challenging at times, but I finally found a rhythm that seems to be working.
What’s New?
Aside from constantly playing and beating games, I have taken on a new role at work which has challenged me in the best way possible. It is always nice to get out of my comfort zone a bit and truly see what I am capable of. Of course, this promotion came with a raise which has allowed me to dive further into my hobbies and interests.
I was able to get a brand new computer desk and that purchase inspired to me to rearrange my entire room. It is now more cozy than ever before and has provided endless inspiration for my endeavors. I was also able to rearrange all of my stuff, properly displaying more of my gaming swag which has been amazing. Nothing beats sitting in a room full of nerdy stuff. My new desk has provided the perfect place for writing and ideally PC gaming in my future, though I am tied up with other titles at the moment.
I have been able to host a weekly game night in this little game room of mine which has been absolutely incredible. We play Super Smash Bros, Mario Party and have been playing Pokémon together as well. It’s been a real joy to have friends over and share this room with them. Needless to say, my room continues to be my sanctuary and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am incredibly lucky and I make sure to remind myself of that everyday. I can’t wait to see what else I do with my room and what other inspiring adventures it takes me on.
What’s To Come?
There are a few games on their way to the shelves this year that I am looking forward to. One sequel I am looking forward to is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. I am a huge Star Wars fan and Jedi: Fallen Order was finally a Star Wars game that was executed perfectly. Other then that, I am interested in some titles without release dates. I also have a little backlog list of games I’d like to tackle this year.
Currently I am playing Triangle Strategy and Octopath Traveler 2. I recently beat Forspoken but it’s been awhile now so I’m not sure I’ll be writing a piece on it. Even though Forspoken got some mixed reviews, I enjoyed my time with it. I never pay too much attention to reviews. I’d rather make my own opinions about games that interest me.
Outside of gaming, I am just trucking away with work. I have to pay my bills somehow and this hobby of mine isn’t cheap. Regardless though, I am looking forward to 2023 and what it will offer. There are a lot of good games on their way and I certainly have plenty to play in this room. Regardless, 2023 is already off to a great start. I have completed Psychonauts 2, Trials of Mana and Forspoken already.
